Abstract

Objective To analyze MRI features of primary malignant lymphomas in the brain. Methods MRI of 17 patients with pathologically proved primary malignant lymphomas in the brain were retrospectively analyzed. Results The lesions were solitary in 15 cases and multiple in 2 case, and a total of 24 lesions were presented.15 cases located in supratentorial and 2 cases in infralentorial region. On MR scanning, the lesions display iso to hypointense signal on T1-weighted and slightly hyperintense or hypointense on T2-weghted imaging.Mild to moderate peritumoral edema and mild space-occupying effect were seen in all 17 cases.10 cases were with glaebule shape,4 with irregular patching and 2 cases with rim enhancement after contrast injection. Conclusion MRI of primary malignant lymphomas have some characteristics in location, the pattern of edema and enhancement.
