Abstract
Based on the standard trees(for tree layer) and clear cut(for shrub and herbaceous),the biomass and its allocation of Castanopsis fargesii stand in Wuyishan Natural Reserve were studied. The results showed that the total biomass was 312.082 t/hm~2,in which the biomass of trunk was 172.968(55.42%),branch 40.677(13.04%),leaf 10.199(3.27%),and root 67.485(21.62%).Most of the biomass((78.99%)) was in the tree layer. According to the biomass allocation within tree species,Castanopsis fargesii was dominant, and Machilus chekiangensis,Adinandra millettii,Dendropanax chevalieri,Daphniphyllum oldnamii were also important in the community. They controlled and influenced the sturcture and environment of the community.
