Abstract

Objective To study the chemical constituents of Selaginella tamariscina(Beauv.)Spring.Methods The compounds were isolated by silica gel,ODS column chromatography, and preparative HPLC and identified by means of the physico-chemical and spectral data. Results Thirteen compounds were isolated from the 75%(φ)ethanol extract and identified as 3β-hydroxy-7α-methoxy-24β-ethyl-cholest-5-ene(1),cholesterol(2),β-sitosterol(3),canophyllic acid(4),betulinic acid(5),5,4′-dihydroxy-7-methoxyflavone(6),3-methoxychrysazin(7),amentoflavone(8),isocryptomerin(9),vanillic acid(10),p-anisaldehyde(11),p-hydroxybenzoic acid(12) and daucosterol(13).Conclusions Compounds 12,47,10 and 13 are isolated from this genus for the first time.
