Abstract
The permeable reactive barrier is an approach developed recently to remedy contaminated groundwater, and now it is the focus of groundwater remediation researches. Contaminated plume flows through PRB and contacts with materi of the barrier. Contamination will be degraded or reserved by these materials. Zero-valent iron, chelation, sorbent or microorganism is mostly reactive material used in PRB. For the application of PRB, the hydrogeological condition is the precondition; selection of reactive materials, system configuration and determination of barrier dimensions and residence time is the key of design; column test and numerical model are common assistant methods.
