Abstract
Foreignization and domestication in translantion ar e always the point at issue.It is argued that neither over-foreignization nor over -domestication means translation.The right balance is needed between foreigniza tion and domestication in the translation process.This paper focuses on the fore ignization and domestication of E-C idiom translation,including:1) connotation of foreignization and domestication;2) basis for foreignization and domesticati on;3)restriction of foreignization and domestication by pragmatical context.
