Abstract

Taking Elymus sibiricus,Poa annua,Bromus inermis,Setaria viridis,Lolium perenne grass seeds which were frequently used in slope greening as materials, the germination characteristics of five gramineae plants were studied. The results showed that the germination rate of Lolium perenne and Poa annua exceeded 80%,while the figure of Elymus sibiricus was less than 30%.The seed which began to germinate at the first day was Lolium perenne. Moreover,it had completed its all germination process within 5days.During the first three days,Setaria viridis,Bromus inermis and Elymus sibiricus began to germinate.Poa annua began to germinate at the 5th day.It was indicated that the germination rate was correlated with thousand kernel weight;the seed size had a correlation with the germinate rate of mesads. The germination rates relate to provenance climate as well as the ecotypes of different plants. As for the abnormal phenomena appeared in the germination process of Bromus inermis, sand burial and the invasion of germs were likely to impact respectively. This research had a guide significance to plant selection on slope greening and management of seed germination.
