An Analysis of Effects of First Language on the Teaching of Foreign Language in College

Abstract

Native language is the first language(L1) system that is established,while the foreign language is the second(L2).It has been a great concern of foreign teachers what are the effects of students' L1 in foreign language classes.The present paper explores the positive and negative effects of the L1 on the teaching of foreign language on the basis of the results of psycho-linguistic and second-language acquisition studies.
