Abstract
Oxygen consumption rate and ammonia excretion rate were determined in gammarid Eogammarus sinensis kept in a respiratory chamber for 4 h at water temperature of 16,20,24,28 and 32 ℃,a salinity of 15,20,25,30,and 35,and p H of 5,6,7,8,and 9 to study the basic metabolism of gammarid. It was fond that the oxygen consumption rate and ammonia excretion rate were increased as the temperature was increased,with the maximal oxygen consumption rate[0. 993 mg /( g · h) ] at 32 ℃,and the maximal ammonia excretion rate[0. 062 00μg /( g·h) ]at 28 ℃. The gammarid had the suitable growth range from 20 ℃ to 28 ℃. The oxygen consumption rate and ammonia excretion rate were shown to be decreased with the increase in salinity,with the minimal oxygen consumption rate [0. 500 mg /( g·h) ]and the ammonia excretion rate[0. 009 6 μg /( g·h) ]at 30 which was the isotonic point of the gammarid. However,the 0. 630 5 mg /( g · h) and the ammonia excretion rate[0. 083 0μg /( g·h) ]were increased with increase in p H,with the maximal oxygen consumption rate and ammonia excretion rate at p H 8.
