Abstract

The EKC curve is often used to describe the relationship between economic growth and environmental degradation, and typically in the inverted U shape. From the research on the series data of economy and environment in Fujian Province from 1988 to 2007,there are obvious relevance between industrial three wastes and per capita GDP.The paper finds that the relation of economic development and environment pollution in Fujian province does not conform to the typical shape of EKC.In which, the waste water and SO2 EKC take the shape of U plus inverted U,the turning point of EKC has been achieved respectively in 2006 and 2008.The curve of waste gas is taking the shape of the right part of U,and has not reached its turning points yet.In conclusion,Fujian Province need to further adjust and improve the industry structure,to increase the percentage of the third industry in the whole national economy and decrease the waste gas discharge in order to reach the turning point of EKC as soon as possible.
