Abstract
Rubble mound breakwaters are a traditional and widely used type of structure in port and coastal construction works. The influence of different widths of bermes upon the stability, overtopping and stress on the parapet wall of a rubble mound breakwater under the action of waves was analyzed with model testing,on the basis of which the width of the berme to armour a rubble mound breakwater was modified, thus optimizing the width of the berme.
