Abstract
Objective To explore the timing of early intervention in the comprehensive rehabilitation for patients with spinal cord injury(SCI).Methods Totally 50 patients with SCI were randomly divided into early intervention group(two weeks after operation;n=30) and control group(three months after operation;n=20).All patients received standard comprehensive rehabilitation. The functions of all patients were assessed by functional independence measure(FIM) score and modified Barthel Index(MBI) before and 3 months after rehabilitation. Results The FIM and MBI scores were not significantly different between these two groups(P0.05) before rehabilitation, but were significantly better in early intervention group three months later(bothP0.05).Conclusion Early intervention(2 weeks after operation) can remarkably improvement the recovery of ordinary function and reduce complications.
