Clinical Effect of Flagyl Calcium Hydroxide Iodoform Paste Used in Root Canal Disinfection on Chronic Refractory Periapical Periodontitis

Objective To observe the clinical effect of flagyl calcium hydroxide iodoform paste used in root canal disinfection on chronic refractory periapical periodontitis.Methods Choosing 80 teeth of chronic refractory periapical periodontitis,they were implemented more than 3 times conventional root canal preparations.These 80 teeth were divided at random into a test group(n=40) and a control group(n=40).The test group was disinfected using flagyl calcium hydroxide iodoform paste in root canals,while the formocresol cotton was used for the control group,and clinical observation and contrast on root canal disinfection were continued between these 2 groups.Results The effective rate in test group was 92.5%(37/40),while that in control group was 47.5%(19/40),extremely significant difference(χ2=19.28,P0.01)existed between these 2 groups.Conclusion Flagyl calcium hydroxide iodoform paste used in root canal disinfection on chronic refractory periapical periodontitis is worth applying in clinical practice.
