Study on the relation between arsenism patients' skin changes and their hair As content

Objective To study the relation between the degree of arsenism patients' skin changes and their hair As level.Methods Clinical check was conducted in endemic area and hair As was determined by atom fluorescent method.Results Clinical results show that 95.3% of patients are affected by hyperkeratosis,91.4% depigmentation and 61.6% hyperpigmentation.Most of single skin change symptoms are hyperkeratosis and all hyperkeratosis are hyperkeratosis Ⅰ°;86.4% of double skin change are hyperkeratosis with other signs and major are hyperkeratosis Ⅰ° with depigmentation Ⅰ°;40.7% of three skin changes are hyperkeratosis Ⅰ° with depigmentation Ⅰ° and hyperpigmentation Ⅰ°.The followings are hyperkeratosis Ⅱ° with depigmentation Ⅰ° and hyperpigmentation Ⅰ°,hyperkeratosis Ⅰ° with depigmentation Ⅱ° and hyperpigmentation Ⅰ°,hyperkeratosis Ⅰ° with depigmentation Ⅱ° and hyperpigmentation Ⅱ°,hyperkeratosis Ⅱ° with depigmentation Ⅱ° and hyperpigmentation Ⅱ°,and hyperkeratosis Ⅲ° with depigmentation Ⅲ°.With the symptoms getting serious,hair As content increases gradually.Conclusions Skin changes of arsenism begin from hyperkeratosis,next affected by depigmentation and hyperpigmentation.Then hyperkeratosis or depigmentation gets serious,and last hyperpigmentation gets serious.Hair As content increases gradually with symptoms getting serious.
