The application of metformin combined with pioglitazone in treatment with obesity type 2 diabetes patients

Objective To observe the clinical effects of metformin combined with pioglitazone in treatment with obesity type 2 diabetes(T2DM)patients.Methods From January 2008 to January 2009,84 cases of obesity T2DM patients were randomly classified into two groups,which observation group were treated with metformin combined with pioglitazone and control group were treated with metformin.The blood sugar,insulin and blood fat were observed.Results Compared with pre-treatment,the FPG,2hPG,FINS and P2INS were significantly increased(P0.05)after treatment in two groups.Moreover,the FPG,2hPG,FINS and P2INS in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group(P0.05).There were no significantly differences in TC,TG,HDL-C and LDL-C between pre-treatment and pro-treatment(P0.05).Conclusion metformin combined with pioglitazone can decrease blood sugar and insulin levels,which is a idea method in treatment with obesity T2DM patients.
