The Countermeasures of Sustainable Utilization of Groundwater Resources and Protection of Geological Environment in Taiyuan City

Taiyuan is one of the Northern Chinese cities that are seriously short of water resources.For a long time,deep groundwater has been the main water supply by central exploitation of tube wells.Water deficiency has not only restricted the economic development of Taiyuan city,but also impelled groundwater over-extraction.Many environ-geologic problems have been caused such as karst springs stopping flowing,the large-scale drawdown funnels,land subsidence,groundwater pollution and so on.Aftertime,land subsidence has a tendency to become worse.The Diversion Project of the Yellow River will in some degree play a part in solving the water resources deficiency and relieving the environ-geologic problems,but the water quality and quantity are instability.Whether the water price can guarantee consumers using little or use no groundwater will be researched in practice.This paper analysed the hydrogeological conditions and present stations of groundwater exploitation in Taiyuan city,pointed out that the environ-geologic problems must be paid much attention to solving in current time,and put forward some countermeasures for the groundwater sustainable utilization and geological environment protection.The study is significant to the sustainable development of groundwater resources in Taiyuan city.
