Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of Th1 and Th2 cytokines in the peripheral blood of SLE patients. Methods:Apply ELISA technique to analyse the IL 2,INF γ,IL 4 and IL 10 expressions in the peripheral blood from 10 normal controls and 8 SLE patients. Results:Compared with the normal controls, the mean level of IL 2 expression in the peripheral blood from SLE patients in active stage was significantly decreased ( P 0.05),the mean level of IL 10 expression was significantly increased( P 0.01),and the mean levels of INF γ and IL 4 expression were not statistically different between the SLE patients and the controls( P 0.05, P 0.05 ).Conclusion:The Th1 cytokine expression of SLE patients in active stage is down regulated at IL 2 and the Th2 cytokine expression is up regulated at IL 10, which may play a role in the pathogenesis of SLE.
