Abstract
A new scheme of ZnGeP2 (ZGP) Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO) generating mid-infrared laser pumped by 2.7μm laser with type Ⅱ phase matching was presented, which had several advantages comparing with conventional method. The KTP intra-cavity OPO (IOPO) with 2.7μm laser output was used experimentally. The maximum output energy of 2.7μm laser was about 2mJ, the total EO-efficiency was 0.01%, the slope efficiency was 0.03%, and the energy stability was about ±7%. The wavelength and temporal profile of sum frequency laser of pump and signal wave were measured, which verified the output of 2.7μm laser. The results show that it is feasible to get the 2.7μm laser by this method, and it may give the foundation of getting the 3~5μm mid-infrared laser by taking the 2.7μm laser as pumping source to pump the ZGP OPO.
