Observation on anatomical struture of the interatrial and interventricular septum in goat heart

Objective To observe the morality and position of the interatrial septum(IAS) and interventricular septum(IVS) in the goat′s heart,so as to provide comparative anatomical data for clinical study.Methods By dissecting,the ovale fossa IAS,the IVS and the pars membranacea and pars muscularis of in goat′s heart on the whole were observed.Results The ovale fossa was 9.63±2.18 mm long and 6.85±1.54 mm wide,it was 9.09±2.10 mm from the center point of ovale fossa to he center point of coronary sinusal opening,12.81±2.34 mm to the middle point of septal tricuspid valve,and 8.94±2.65 mm to the middle point of anterior biscuspid valve.The thickness of the superior edge of the ovale fossa was 1.26±0.50 mm,the inferior edge was 1.80±0.40 mm,the anterior edge was 2.39±1.78 mm,and the posterior edge was 2.29±0.89 mm.The anterior part of the membrane portion of IVS was 2.94±1.13 mm wide,the middle part was 4.66±1.15 mm wide,and the posterior part of wide was 6.13±1.41 mm long and 9.62±1.83 mm wide.The inferior edge was 15.06±2.63 mm long.The superior edge of the muscle portion of the IVS was 37.63±4.48 mm long and the thickness was 9.34±1.69 mm.Conclusion The IAS and IVS of the goat is similar with human′s,so it is a good animal used as test of the IAS and the interventricular repaired material of the heart operation.
