Relationships of Human Papillomavirus Infection and Expression of P53,MDM2 proteins in Cervical Intra-epithelial Neoplasia

Abstract

Objective To investigate Human Papillomavirus(HPV) infection and expression of P53,MDM2 proteins,as well as their relationships in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN).Methods 47 cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and 54 controls with normal cervix were selected.HPV6/11 and HPV16/18 infection was detected using in site hybridization method,and expression of P53 and MDM2 proteins was examined by immunohistochemistry streptavidin peroxidase conjugated method.Results The infection rates of HPV6/11 in CIN and control groups were 46.8%(22/47) and 20.4%(11/54) respectively,while those of HPV16/18 were 70.2%(33/47) and 16.7%(9/54) respectively.HPV6/11 and HPV16/18 infection rates of CIN group were significantly higher than those of control group(P0.01). The P53 protein positive rates in CIN and control groups were 27.7%(13/47) and 3.7%(3/54) respectively and had significant difference(P0.05).The MDM2 protein positive rates in CIN and control groups were 14.9%(7/47) and 7.4%(4/54) respectively,but had no significant difference(P0.05).However,no significant correlations were found between the infection rates of HPV6/11 and HPV16/18,as well as HPV infection and expression of P53,MDM2 proteins(P0.05).Conclusions HPV infection is strongly related with CIN; P53 protein may partly participate the development and progression of CIN,whereas MDM2 protein may play a minor role.
