Abstract

Semantically,in Japanese pair transitive verbs are used when the subject acts and causes a change to the object,and both the action and the change appear in the same sentence.The focus of the pair intransitive verbs is on the result of the change of the object rather than the cause of the change,while the pair transitive verbs present the direct cause of the change.On this basis,the paper elaborates the features of the usages of the transitive and intransitive verbs in Japanese.
