Abstract
This paper describes the approach of knowledge based integrated design for manufacture for mechanical parts. The evaluation knowledge of part manufacturability was expressed by the hybrid of frame and production rule based on object oriented approach. The evaluation system of part manuafcturability and the knowledge base of manufacturability evaluation for parts were built. The hierarchical evaluation strategy of part manufacturability was presented. Part manufacturability was evaluated hierarchically based on manufacturing knowledge in the process of part design, so the feedback information of part design was provided in order to modify part design in time. DFM system can get directly the design information of parts from CAD system based on integrated product model by means of STEP file and evaluate automatically the manufacturability of parts. The information integration of CAD/DFM is implemented.
