Abstract
As the uptake in IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) technology increases space,the development of Softswitch technology is confronted with new challenges. Compared with IMS,the Softswitch is more suitable to deliver the traditional narrow band Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) services,and should position itself as an enabler for the packet-switched network to inherit and develop existing PSTN services. Therefore,the Softswitch is applicable in constructing the PSTN toll network or intelligentizing the PSTN network. The Softswitch network architecture can be modified according to the development of services and increased QoS requirement.
