Abstract
Objective To explore the influential factors and characteristics of heterosexual intercourse among men who have sex with men(MSM) and to provide scientific basis for intervention of HIV/STD among them. Methods Surveyed on VCT and venue,MSM were investigated to collect information on socio-demographic and high risk sexual behaviors from June to September in 2008 and the HIV/syphilis were tested. The rate and multi-factors were analyzed by X2 and logistic regression respectively. Results It is found that 29.9%(136/455) had sex with female in past six months,of whom 89.7%(122/136)and 69.9%(95/136)had sex with regular and casual female sex partners. The rates of condom use were 28.7%(35/122)and 38.9%(37/95)respectively,without statistically significant difference(P0.05).The infection rates of HIV and syphilis were 3.7%(5/136)and 10.3%(14/136)respectively,and had no significant difference with other MSM who had no heterosexual intercourse 5.3%(17/319)and 12.9%(41/319)(P0.05).Multiple factor logistic regression demonstrated that marital status(the OR of other marital status as opposed to the marriage and cohabitation is 0.34),erotism(heterosexual and male bisexual have significance compared to homosexual, the OR is 16.56 and 2.79 respectively)and the first intercourse object(the OR of female as opposed to male is 5.46) were the influential factors of MSM who had sex with female in past six months. Conclusion A considerable proportion of MSM had heterosexual intercourse.Interventions to MSM should be strengthened to control HIV/STD transmission from MSM to female population.
