Abstract
The meanings of many words are nearly indeterminate before they are used in sentences. The realization of the meaning of a word is influenced by both the structure of the sentence and other constituents, and it is the result of semantic composition. When nouns are collocated with different verbs, their referential properties will probably change. Both the meaning and the cognitive schema of words are the prerequisites of this change, and the interaction between the constituents is the motivation for the change of nominal reference. In addition, the meaning is often linked with the function of words,i.e.the meaning changes are related to the differences among the functions of nouns.
