Abstract

Objective To study the change of GFAP in spinal cord tissue and to explore its effect and significance after tractive spinal cord injury in rats. Methods With decreasing of the P1~N1 controlled to 70% through CSEP monitor, the T 13~L2 spinal cord of rats were injured by traction. The rats were killed in 1、4、7、14 and 21 days after injury.Immunohistochemistry and imagine analysis were used to detect the expression of GFAP in spinal cord tissue and the function of spinal cord was examined with behavioral scores and electrophysiological technique. Results The expression of GFAP raised at 1 d,reached a peak in 7 days and had a marked difference in injured group than in control group(P0.01). Conclusions The high expression of GFAP plays an important role in regeneration and repairing of spinal cord injury.
