Abstract

The popular classification schemes of lode gold deposits have been established basically according to the geological characteristics and genetic theories of those partly denudated lode gold deposits. In order to proceed effectively with the positioning prognosis of concealed lode gold deposits, it is necessary to re understand and re classify the types of ore deposits and to reveal those real comparable properties among ore deposits. The paper analyzes several urgently settled issues in relation to the existing classification schemes of lode gold deposits. In combination with the peculiarities of gold deposits, the paper suggests that the types of ore deposits should be simplified, the metallogenic zones and belts should be considered as the objects of classification and the metallogenic system should be taken as the basis for classification.
