An Elementary Comment on Laozi′s Political Thought

Abstract

Laozi's political thought is rather unique and extremely profound. The main content of his political thought can be summarized as follows; to hold the Tao highest in the universe; oppose interference and disturbing of the public life; not to run a state with wisdom; theory of body politics; subjects of a small country should be in the state of independent autonomy. The main characteristics of Laozi's political thought are not on power, but on the Tao; laying no stress on the system of government and state system, but on land under heaven. His theory belongs to the field of political ethics.
