Abstract
From the data contrast and three-repeated measurements of 15beach profiles laid around the Weizhou Island from 2006to 2013,it has been found that the coast of the island is,as a whole,subjected to the erosion.The long-term changes of the beach profiles have indicated that the erosion of the coast is more serious in the eastern and southwestern parts of the island,with the average annual down-erosion being 0.18m along the southwestern coast.The coastal erosion is relatively light in the northern beach.The coast around the South Bay changes slightly,showing a weakly erodingweakly depositing state.Under the influence of short-term storm,the beaches of the island are eroded down significantly from winter to summer.
