Acupoint Injection Based on Combination of Shu-acupoint and Mu-acupoint for Post-stroke Urinary Incontinence

Objective To investigate clinical effects of acupoint injection,based on combination of Shu-acupiont and Mu-acupoint,in treating urinary incontinence(UI) after stroke.Methods A total of 60 patients with UI after stroke were averagely randomized into treatment group and control group according to sortition.Patients in treatment group were treated with acupoint injection of vitamin B12 at Zhongji(RN3) and Pangguangshu(BL28),and routine acupuncture therapies for stroke,once every other day,10 times as a treatment course;patients in control group were treated with acupuncture at Zhongji(RN3) and Pangguangshu(BL28),and other therapies and treatment course were the same as those of treatment group.After one treatment course,main symptoms scores and severity of UI as well as scores of functional independence measure(FIM) were evaluated.Results The rate of recovery and obvious effect in treatment group was significantly higher than that in control group(P0.05);the treatment group was superior to control group in prolonging interval time of nocturia,reinforcing urgent feeling of micturition,and decreasing the frequency of nocturia(P0.05,or P0.01);scores of FIM in treatment group were significantly increased compared with those in control group(P0.01).Conclusion Acupoint injection based on combination of Shu-acupoint and Mu-acupoint can ameliorate symptoms and signs in patients with UI after stroke,its efficacy being superior to routine acupuncture at both Shu-acupoint and Mu-acupoint.
