Abstract
Objective: To detect adenosine contents in brain homogenates for investigating the distribution of adenosine in the brain of mice.Methods: Eight male mice of Kunming strain were killed by decapitation under anesthesia by diethyl ether,and the brain tissues were quickly removed out and divided on ice into seven regions: cortex,striatum,hippocampus,hypothalamus,thalamus and midbrain.These brain tissues were homogenized and determined for the adenosine content by HPLC with ultraviolet detector.Results: The adenosine level was the highest in striatum,cortex and hippocampus,moderately downward for hypothalamus and thalamus,and the lowest in midbrain of the mouse brain.Conclusion: Adenosine content is unevenly distributed in different cerebral regions of mice in which the striatum holds maximally.
