Abstract
Objective To explore the expressions and significance of p16 and p53,proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) in astrocytoma. Methods The expressions of p16,p53 and PCNA proteins were detected by immunohistochemical procedure in 114 cases of astrocytoma,and the relationship between the expressions and differential histological grades was analyzed.Results The absence rate of p16 protein was significantly higher in histological grade Ⅲ(65.6%) and grade Ⅳ(91.3%) than that of histological grade I~Ⅱ(33.3%)(P0.01).The expression of p53 protein was significantly higher in histological grade Ⅲ(68.8%)and grade Ⅳ(89.1%) than that of grade I~Ⅱ(27.8%)(P0.01).The expression of PCNA protein was significantly higher in histological grade Ⅲ(56.3%)and grade Ⅳ(84.8%)than that of grade I~Ⅱ(16.7%)(P0.01).Conclusion The detection of p16,p53 and PCNA expressions may be helpful to identify biological behavior of astrocytoma.
