Abstract

The Kinetic study on phenol degradation by using microwave assisted Fenton reagent oxidation technology was conducted to show the efficiency and the mechanism of the degradation process. The optimal operating parameters were initial pH 5.0,=8.82×10-4 mol/L,H2O2/Fe2+ molar ratio 10∶1 and temperature 30 ℃.Phenol degradation followed pseudo-first order reaction under individual MW radiation or/and Fenton oxidation process while significantly enhanced in the combined MW/Fenton system. This indicated that there existed synergetic effects in the MW/Fenton process. The promoted factor for phenol degradation rate constant was about 2.92.
