Abstract
Aim To evaluate the protective effect of Benazepril and Losartan on nephrofreeze induced chronic renal failure (CRF) in rats. Methods The CRF in rats induced by nephro-freeze were randomLy divided into 3 groups (n=10): model group, Benazepriltreated group, Losartantreated group and sham operation group served as normal control. Benazepril 4 mg/(kg·d) and Losartan 10 mg/(kg·d) were orally administered 6 ds per week for 4 weeks after operation. BUN, Src, ANG II and urinary protein per d (UP·d-1) were measured at 1st, 2nd, 3th and 4th week after nephrofreeze, and analyzed renal pathologic changes in the end. Results In the nephrofreeze rats, renal dysfunction and partly renal pathologic changes were observed. Both Benazepril and Losartan reduced UP·d-1, and Losartan had more superior in this respect. Benazepril ameliorated renal pathologic changes, while Losartan was not found the same effect. Conclusion Both Benazepril and Losartan has protective effect from renal failure induced by nephrofreeze. Benazepril had more superior in pathologic changes respect and Losartan in renal insufficiet.
