Abstract
High-yielding industrial natural gas flow has been tested in the well Xushen-1 in 2002,which uncovered the prelude of the exploration and development for deep volcanic rock reservoirs in Daqing. Up to now,the reserves in this area has already reached up to 200 bcm,in which volcanic rock reservoirs account for 86.4%. So far,the Xushen gas field is the largest gas field discovered onshore in East China. Due to the effects of eruption periods and erosion transformation, the volcanic rock reservoir is characterized by complicated lithology, complex storage spaces, high heterogeneity, and large variations between offset wells in gas productivity. There is hardly any experience to be used for reference in China and in other countries on development of this kind of reservoirs. In recent years, joint scientific study has been conducted in fields of comprehensive geology, gas reservoir engineering, drilling and production technology based on the features of the volcanic rock reservoirs. New understandings and knowledge have been formed, and a set of applicable development technology has been established for fast and effective development of that kind of reservoirs. Related valuable experiences have been drawn from field practices.
