Abstract
Objective:To investigate the clinical application of a new index-Tei index for monitoring left ventricular global function in patients with essential hypertension. Methods: In this study,176 patients with essential hypertension were divided into four groups: normal left ventricle(group A,46 cases),concentric remodeling(group B,53cases),concentric hypertrophy(group C,40cases) eccentric hypertrophy(group D,37 cases),and 35 health persons were taken as the control group. The conventional echo-Dopple parameters assessed including: LA.LVDed.IVS.LVPW.LVMI.RWT,E/A ratio, ejection fraction(EF) and Tei index. Results: Compared with that of the control group, the systolic pressure and pusle pressure in groups C.D were higher.LA was larger in groups C D(P0.05) IVS,RWT and LVPW in group C was the largest in all groups.LVMI in groups C,D was significantly largest in all groups(P0.01),E/A in all hypertension groups was decreased(P0.05) The EF was significantly reduced in group D(P0.05),Tei index in all hypertention groups was prolonged. There was significant difference(P0.05).Conclusion: Tei index was valuable and easy to estimate left ventricular systolic and diastolic functions with high sensitivity.
