America in the Eyes of Chinese on the Eve of Modern China

Abstract
During the reign of Emperor Jiaqing and Daoguang, the frequent commercial intercourse between America and China and the conflicts between China and Great Britain before Opium War drew China's attention to America, which led to a leap in Chinese people's acquaintance with Americans. That was the original acquaintance and understanding of America in the eyes of Chinese and it influenced early Sino America relation deeply.
