Abstract

The wind tunnel test and numerical stimulation of a typical low-rise gable roofed building with eave were performed to obtain mean wind pressure distributions acting on the building roof.In general,the results obtained from the test and the simulation match well.This indicates that the numerical simulation approach may be a power tool for wind-resistant study on low-rise buildings.Furthermore,the results show that high minus wind pressure and pressure gradient can be appear at turning corners,such as eaves,ridge of roof and top of gable,etc.Especially the upward wind force on overhang eaves could be large,which should be paid attention to in designing of such buildings.
