The clinical study of treating esophageal carcinoma with chemotherapy plus radiotherapy

Abstract

Objective: To study the therapeutic effectiveness of treating esophageal carcinoma with chemotherapy (using DDP, 5-Fu, DF) plus radiotherapy.Methods: 127 esophageal carcinoma patients were divided into two groups at random, one was treated with radiotherapy (only radiotherapy group, 62 patients),the other treated with chemotherapy plus radiotherapy using DF(combined group, 65 patients).Results: Complete remission rates of combined group and only radiotherapy group were 52.3% and 33.9% ( P 0 05) respectively;Survival rates of 1,3,5 years were 73.3%,46.2%,27.7% and 58.1%( P 0 05),29 0%( P 0 05),9 7%( P 0 05) respectively; Local recurrence rates were 23.1% and 41.9%( P 0 05); The distant metastasis rates were 7.7% and 21.0%( P 0 05).Conclusion: The therapeutic effectiveness had been raised by using chemotherapy plus radiotherapy to treat esophageal carcinoma
