Evaluation of Treatment against Hepatic Fibrosis of Schistosomiasis with Dangguibuxue Decoction or Single Herb Extract by Ultrasonography

Objective To evaluate the treatment effects on hepatic fibrosis of schistosomiasis with Dangguibuxue decoction or single herb extract of Danggui(Angelica sinensis),Huangqi(Radix astragalus),by ultrasonography.Method Hepatic fibrosis model of schistosomiasis was set up on rabbits and divided them into 4 groups.The three experimental group′s rabbits were treated with Priziquantel combined with the extract of Angelica sinensis,Radix astragalus,or Angelica sinensis and Radix astragalus,while the control group′s rabbits were treated only with Priziquantel.And then the effects of treatment on the four groups were evaluated by B-ultrasonography.Result All of the experimental groups have good treatment effects on hepatic fibrosis of schistosomiasis.And the group treated with extract of Angelica sinensis and Radix astragalus is the best.It showed significant differences in length,thickness,and the cross diameter of liver and portal vein inner diameter before and after treatment(P 0.05).Conclusion The treatment effect of complex dangguibuxue decoction is better than single herb extract of Angelica sinensis or Radix astragalus.
