Intra-articular Injection of Zhengqing Fengtongning Injection in Treating Ankylosing Spondylitis with Hip Joint Disease: A Report of 30 Cases

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effects of intra-articular injection of Zhengqing fengtongning Injection in treating ankylosing spondylitis(AS) with hip joint disease.Methods:Fifty-five inpatients and outpatients with AS were selected from the department of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),guangzhou general hospital of Guangzhou military command,PLA,from March 2005 to March 2008.The patients were randomized into observation group(30 cases) and control group(25 cases).Patients in observation group were treated with routine drugs and intra-articular injection of Zhenqing Fengtongning Injection.Those in control group were treated with routine drugs only.The visual analog scale(VAS),Bath ankylosing spondylitis functional index(BASFI),Bath ankylosing spondylitis functional index(BADAI),erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) and C-reactive protein(CRP) were tested before treatment and 1 month after treatment.Results: VAS,BASFI,BASDAI,ESR and CRP of the patients in two groups after treatment were decreased significantly than those before treatment(P0.05),and VAS and BASFI of patients in observation group were improved significantly than those in control group(P0.05).Conclusion: The combined therapy of intra-articular injection of Zhenqing Fengtongning Injection with routine drugs is superior to routine drugs in alleviating pains and improving joint function.
