Effect of heat treatment on microstructures and mechanical properties of 2524 aluminum alloy

Abstract

Under the 400℃ of as-cast 2524 aluminum alloy rolling forming, the total deformation of 90%, by using optical metallographic microscope, tensile testing machine and other equipment we detect rolled plate microstructure and mechanical properties. The results show that with the increase of solution temperature, Al2 Cu,Al2CuMg second phase particles gradually reduce the number of basic solution under 490℃ to 500℃ in the aluminum substrate. The microhardness value is gradually increasing with the increase of solution temperature,when the solid solution temperature is 490℃, its microhardness value is 131.4 HV; 2524 aluminum alloy rolled plate after 490℃/20 min +190℃/22 h after treatment, the tensile strength of 485 MPa, the elongation is 13.5%.
