Abstract
Objective To analyze the clinical and pathological characteristics of the GH-secreting pituitary adenomas and mixed pituitary adenomas.Method The clinical data of 120 patients with of GH-secreting pituitary adenomas or mixed pituitary adenomas, including clinical manifestations, biochemical change, pathological type, invasiveness and so on,were analyzed retrospectively. Results The GH-secreting pituitary adenomas and mixed pituitary adenomas occurred more in people aged 20~50 years than those in the others. The ratio of men to women was 1:2 in 120 patients. The main clinical manifestations included the acromegaly, headache, dizziness, visual extinction and defect of the visual field in the patients with GH-secreting pituitary adenomas and amenorrhea, lactopoiesis and menstrual disorder in women with GH-secreting pituitary adenomas. The percentage of the invasive tumors of GH(+),GH(+) and PRL(+),GH(+) and ACTH(+),GH(+) and TSH(+),GH(+) and LH(+),and mixed pituitary carcinomas of more than three hormones(+) [including GH(+)] were 59.57%,35.48%,33.33%,0%,33.33%,and 34.38% respectively. The invasive tumor percentage of the simple GH-secreting pituitary adenomas was significantly higher than that of the other tumors accompanied by GH(+).Conclusions The pituitary adenoma in the women is more common than that in the men.The invasive tumor percentage of the simple GH-secreting pituitary adenoma is higher than that of the other pituitary adenomas. It is suggested that besides the positive GH,there are often positive other hormones in the GH adenomas.
