Abstract
According to the orthogonal experiments, the optimal transesterification conditions of cotton oil and methanol catalyzed by sodium methoxide to form biodiesel were investigated. The suitable conditions for the transesterification of cotton oil were obtained: molar ration of methanol to oil 6:1,reaction time 60 min, reaction temperature 50℃ and amount of catalyst 0.6% of the oil weight. The yield could reach 96%.
