Abstract
Assessing the geoaccumulation index and the potential ecological risk, and analysing the relativity between the pollution causes and the mass fraction of heavy metals in sediment of two rivers, the Jingma River which receives industrial wastewater and the Old Course of the Yellow River which receives domestic sewage,we conclude that the heavy metal pollution and potential ecological risk are more severe in the Jingma River than in the Old Course of the Yellow River.Corresponding measures are suggested for the two rivers which receive different wastewater.
