Abstract
Unloading confining pressure tests with fixed displacement for siltsand are conducted.Based on the analysis of failure feature, the relationship between rock failure under unloading condition and rock burst is discussed. The results show that rock failure phenomena tend to change from middle rock burst to violent rock burst with the increase of confining pressure. The decrease of stress for a certain direction could possibly lead to rock failure to the rock under three-dimensional stress. Moreover, the elastic strain energy releases could result in rock burst.Rock burst can be controlled by the progress of construction.
