Discussion on the Explanation Error of the GuWen "甲(jia)" in ShuoWenJieZi

Abstract

The explanation of 甲(jia),a Chinese character which is GuWen in ShuoWenJieZi,has two inheritance systems in transmitting process,the consensus of which lies in both approving argument of in 木(mu),and containing three verbs 始于(stem from),见于(appear as),成于(end in),which symbolize evolving stages of a thing.Based on this consensus and premise that 十(jia) is a phonetic loan character of 甲(jia) and from perspective of how character was really written,the author attempts to demonstrate error in explanation of 甲(jia) in ShuoWenJieZi,which took as 千(qian),and conclude that explanation of WuWen 甲(jia) in ShuoWenJieZi actually followed the track of stemming from十(jia),appearing as 屮(che) and ending in 木(mu).
