Abstract

Since 2004, the Japan-Central Asia relationship has developed quickly; and with the establishment of Asia Plus Dialog as a sign, Japan's Central Asian strategy has taken its initial shape. In different historical periods, the reasons for Japan to develop its relations with Central Asia are different. Owing to its good basis and some other reasons, the Japan-Central Asia relationship may develop quite smoothly in the future. Japan's involvement in Central Asian affairs may bring some disadvantageous influences on China, so China has to reply to it actively, but China should not simply see Japan's Central Asian strategy as a strategy to contain China.
