A Discrimination and Analysis of the History of Wuhuan(乌桓) in Western Han Dynasty

Abstract

The viewpoint that Wuhuan (乌桓) originated from Donghu (东胡) was raised for the first time by historians of Western Jin Dynasty. There is no records of the ethnic origin of Wuhuan in Records of the Grand Historian(史记) and Book of Han (汉书),which were completed in the Han Dynasty. The compilers of Book of Wei (魏书)and Book of Later Han (后汉书),which were completed in Western Jin Dynasty and Song Period of the Southern Dynasties respectively,brought forward the date of historical events concerning Wuhuan in the Western Han Dynasty to earlier times.
