Abstract
Objective To study the clinical characteristics in patients with various histopathologic factors of degenerated leiomyoma and celluar myoma. Methods The clinical features of 458 patients with degenerated leiomyoma admitted to our hospital between 1993 and 2004,were analyzed retrospectively.the diagnostic value of preoperative color Doppler sonography and intraoperative macroscopic examination were evaluated. Results The most common symptoms in benign degenerated leiomyoma and celluar myoma and leiomyosarcoma are rapidly enlarging uterus, menorrhagia or pelvic pain.significant differences(P0.05) in features of rapidly enlarging uterus between patients with degenerated leiomyoma vs leiomyosarcoma, and patients with cellular myoma vs leiomyosarcoma were observed.the patients whose resistant index were under 0.4 detected by color Doppler sonography preoperatively, were found in 40(17.24%)patients with degenerated leiomyoma,24(10.91%)patients with cellular myoma and 2(33.33%)patients with leiomyosarcoma respectively. Conclusions The specific clinical findings in patients with degenerated leiomyoma and cellular myoma is the rapidly enlarging uterus, especially in patients with leiomyosarcoma. And emphasizing the importance of paying attention to preoperative color Doppler sonography and intraoperative macroscopic examination,it is benefit to diagnosis of degenerated leiomyoma and cellular myoma preoperation or during operation.
