On Reasons for Bildungsroman to Be the Prominent Form in the Production of Memory of the Cultural Revolution in Recent 20 Years

Starting from the turn of the 1980s and the 1990s,bildungsroman,written in the dropback of the Cultural Revolution and having repeatedly drawn the attention of society and of the literary circles,has been in the ascendant up till now,thus bildungsroman is,as it were,an extremely influential form in the production of memory of the Cultural Revolution following novels on trauma and reflections.As is opined in this paper,the causes for this literary phenomenon are as follows: for one thing,current mainstream writers have experienced the Cultural Revolution in their childhood and adolescence,hence the upsurge by virtue of the encounter of their growth with the Cultural Revolution;for another,there is a need to restart and update the memory of the Cultural Revolution against the background of a new context and new approaches to relevant issues in the 1990s.Therefore,thanks to its dual vision of both children and adults,to its elasticity between minute and grand narration,and to its flexibility and openness,the form of bildungsroman is qualified as the highly effective one to continue,update,enrich,replenish and rewrite the memory of the Cultural Revolution,hence the favored form among writers.
